History
From its start as Akira Co., Ltd. on December 8th, 1947 until 1955, the company was engaged in the sale of chemical materials and mechanical parts as a trading company. Later, planning to manufacture thermosetting resin products and electrical insulating rigid cement boards, we set up the Dainin Plant (now the Osaka Higashi Plant) and the Urae Plant (now the Osaka Nishi Plant) and started production activities.
In April 1956 the company name was changed to Nikko Kasei Co., Ltd. and new sections for thermoplastic resin injection molded products and incombustible construction materials were added. In April 1966 the Shiga Plant was completed, making a flesh start as a production base for incombustible construction materials, followed by the completion inside the Shiga Plant of the thermosetting laminated resin sheet shop in 1970. In the same year we also created the new division of Movable Partition and stimulated space creation of the office and processing shop for construction materials in 1973.
At the Osaka Plant, expansion and renovation took place in 1975, 1978, 1981, 1982 and 1983 to improve the thermosetting resin injection molder line, fully implementing its production facilities. Our efforts to increase production capacity and streamline the organization have been supported by the introduction of robots and the latest coating lines, aiming to further promote automation, save labor and rationalize as part of our capital investment plan. In 1989 the Shiga Plant expanded with a laboratory, improving our efforts of study and development of new technical material.
Our new head office in Osaka was built in 1992, then in 1997, as a part of the 50th anniversary project, the complex building for factory and welfare facilities was constructed for the further expansion of our business.
